Carter

The Carter is a large animal used for pulling loads. It is hornless and obviously descended from the same stock as the Destrier, and although it lacks the Destrier's thick protective hide, the Carter is heavier and stronger than the largest Destrier, with thickset legs like tree trunks. It is also slower by far, and although it is possible to ride a Carter, most people would rather walk, since its back is too broad to comfortably sit upon and it has a heavy, bone-jarring tread. Unlike the Destrier, the Carter is blessed with a placid peaceable nature and although Carters are famously stupid, they can be trained to perform simple tasks and will learn to recognise their masters. A Carter can weigh up to a tonne and can pull a wagon several times its own body weight.
