Bestiary

Below is a bestiary detailing some of the creatures which roam the forests, mountains - and cities - of Arth. This bestiary only addresses what might be called "natural" creatures, those which mate (or at least reproduce), grow up and die in a relatively natural fashion. It does not address those things - however lifelike - that are the products of sorcery, those which (like Daemons) come to Arth from other places or which are unique individuals - they are dealt with in adventures where they occur, or in the sections dealing with magical creatures. However, some animals now considered native to Arth may in fact have originated by sorcery, or come from other planets or planes. Because of the devastation wrought by the Dark Millenium, there are fewer species of animals than one might expect, and much of what survives is feral and hardy. There is little that a visitor from our world would recognise. Still, there are many wonderous things that walk, slither or lurch across the face of Ancient Arth - and you may peruse them below.

A note on creature statistics:

The statistics given for each of the creatures below, are the norm for an adult of that species - some will be weaker, some stronger, some smaller, some larger. Feel free to add a point of SPD and some extra STR, BOD and STUN to create a wily old Dyrewolf packleader, or reduce stat.s to make younger or feebler creatures. As always ,these are here merely as a guide.

The rationale and philosophy behind the creatures in these bestiaries is given here.
