Malawa, priest of the Red God

 

Malawa is from the ancient and decadent city of Kesh and a member of the proud and haughty temple of the Lord of the East - commonly called the Red God. Once a tall, powerful and handsome man of aristocratic mien, he now hides himself in voluminous robes. A powerful sorceror, he challenged a follower of the antagonistic Temple of the Lord of the West - and lost. He bears the marks of that contest still - a crawling plague under his skin that makes it split and writhe as though something were moving under his skin. Although he survived and even retained his place in the temple hierachy, Malawa could not stand the ignominy of his fall. He left the city, at first travelling among the despised tribes of the hinterland of Kesh and finally ending up in Shashamannse. He despises the Kvarch-nari tribesmen he lives among almost as much as their wild Keshite neighbours, but at least here he can hide his shame and live in reasonable comfort. Malawa spends a lot of his time drunk and occasionally will buy slave girls from Mamma Ka's house. These are never seen alive again, which has done nothing for his reputation.

In a combat situation, Malawa has two approaches. If he has time, he likes to create fire and then boost his Mana, by drawing on the flame - he will then cast Skin Of Flame and Searing Hands spells and cut his enemies down with two white-hot palms. If time is not available for that, then he will simply use his swords. He carries two heavy swords with the curved, flame-patterned blades that are characteristic of the Temple of the Red God.
